Opportunity (Job Purpose)

Support Marketing and Communication team initiatives for the nationally ranked UC Davis Graduate School of Management.  

This role is a marketing and communications generalist where you’ll gain hands-on experience managing website updates, supporting email campaigns, and creating content for social media. You’ll help keep our communications accurate, timely, and engaging for diverse audiences. Along the way, you’ll also have opportunities to flex your creative and design skills—contributing graphics, visuals or layouts when projects call for them.

Your Contributions (Job Description)

You’ll advance the mission of the nationally ranked Graduate School of Management School with digital and print outreach to help recruit graduate business students regionally, nationally and internationally, build alumni affinity and corporate relationships. 

You’ll work closely with our dynamic environment with a small, highly productive Marketing and Communications team on projects for our Admissions team, Alumni Relations, Corporate Relations and the Dean’s office. You’ll juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines using our project management platform, maintain digital archives and, most importantly, see the impact your work immediately. 

You will have the opportunity to acquire professional-level experience and marketable skills in a highly collaborative atmosphere.  

The student marketing and communications assistant’s contributions will include:

  • Graphic design/content creation
    • Use Canva and/Illustrator to create graphics on deadline for social media, web, email and digital for internal and external channels
    • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign to update print flyers
    • Social media content creation, such as short reels, stories or TikToks
  • Slate Customer Relationship Management Contact Management
    • Assist with the importing of lists of new prospective student contacts into Slate CRM
    • Build HTML emails in drag/drop platform (stripo.io) for recruitment efforts in Slate CRM
  • Website
    • Train and use Drupal to make web edits and update and post new content
    • Review events in Slate and add to Drupal-powered website
    • Web content and accessibility audit (project management)
  • Other marketing/communications tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems (Drupal, WordPress, or similar). 
  • Experience with email marketing tools (Slate, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar). 
  • Understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, TikTok). 
  • Creativity and interest in content creation (graphics, video, photography). 
  • Graphic design proficiency (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar) is a big plus. 
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and brand consistency. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to balance multiple projects. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Punctuality and dependability.
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills to clearly communicate with a wide variety of individuals.

Work Schedule

Schedule fluctuates depending on students’ class schedule and academic responsibilities as top priority. Flexible virtual schedule available. 

Approximate Hours Per Week

10-15 hours around your academic schedule.
