Annual Advising Requirement
Current Undergraduate Business Major Students
This annual advising requirement is designed to support you at every stage of your college journey—whether you’re exploring the major, planning your course path, preparing for internships or getting ready to graduate. Each year’s advising requirement aligns with key academic and professional milestones to help you stay on track and make the most of your time at UC Davis.
Each year includes two separate parts:
- An advising appointment with your academic advisor
- Engagement component
Year One
Requirement:
Meet with your academic advisor.
Schedule your appointment in the advising appointment system before the beginning of Fall Quarter Pass 2 registration (mid-August).
Prior to your appointment, please prepare by:
- Running a uAchieve audit for your degree.
- Drafting and saving (not submitting) a one-year academic plan in OASIS to discuss with your advisor.
Note: Students who come to their advising appointment without a saved academic plan will be asked to reschedule their appointment.
Strongly Recommended:
Engagement component:
Complete at least two qualifying campus activities during the academic year:
- AATC or Calculus room tutoring session
- Success coaching workshops
- Career Center events
- Campus cultural or resource center events
- Faculty office hours
- GSM-hosted events
- MGT 001 or first-year seminar
Students will be provided with a form to take to events to obtain signatures, verifying completion of the activity.
Year Two
Requirement:
Meet with your academic advisor.
Schedule your appointment in the advising appointment system before the beginning of Fall Quarter Pass 2 registration (mid-August).
Prior to your appointment, please prepare by:

- Drafting and saving (not submitting) a graduation plan in OASIS to discuss with your advisor.
Note: Students who come to their advising appointment without a saved graduation plan will be asked to reschedule their appointment.

- Updating your OASIS graduation plan.

- Success coaching workshops
- Career Center events
- Undergraduate Research Center event

- GSM-hosted events

Year Four

Schedule your appointment in the advising appointment system before the beginning of Winter Quarter Pass 2 registration (mid-November).
Prior to your appointment, please prepare by:

- Updating your OASIS graduation plan.

FAQs
What happens if I do not complete the advising requirement before the deadline?
A registration hold will be placed on your record that will affect your ability to enroll in a future quarter.
Can I complete the advising appointment requirement through a drop-in session?
No. We want to ensure there’s ample time to review all aspects of your academics, which can only be done during an advising appointment with a staff academic advisor.
How can I get the registration hold removed?
To clear the registration hold, you will be required to meet with your academic advisor as listed above. For additional questions, please email gsm-undergradadvising@ucdavis.edu.
