Choose your Master of Management Path: Full-Time or Flex

Build a business foundation on a schedule that fits your next career step

You know your field. Now you want to understand the business behind it: how organizations manage money, reach customers and make decisions. The UC Davis Master of Management (MM) can add that foundation to your education and experience.

The STEM-designated curriculum is modeled after the UC Davis MBA curriculum, with courses in accounting, economics, finance, marketing and strategy. Full-Time MM and Flex MM offer two paths to those skills.

In a recent information session, Alex Svensson, interim senior director of recruiting and admissions, and Joseph Chen, associate professor and associate dean of programs and curriculum, discussed how to choose a format.

Full-Time MM: Prepare for your next step in 9 months

The Full-Time MM is designed for recent graduates and early-career professionals who want to make graduate school their primary focus. The nine-month program meets at the UC Davis campus, with weekday classes during business hours. No prior work experience is required.

“The MM builds business skills you can put to work in any industry.”
— Alex Svensson, interim senior director of recruiting and admissions

For students with a nonbusiness undergraduate degree, the MM adds business training to an existing area of expertise. Students learn with a cohort and receive career coaching.

Consider this path if: You want an accelerated, campus-based experience before entering or returning to the workforce.

Flex MM: Build business skills while you work

The Flex MM is a 15-month, part-time hybrid program for early- to midcareer professionals who want to build business skills while continuing to work. It combines virtual evening classes with in-person classes on Saturdays.
Students take core classes alongside Flex MBA students, bringing different professional experiences and career goals into the classroom.

“The core curriculum builds the practical skills managers need to analyze finances, make informed decisions and lead people.”
—Joseph Chen, associate professor and associate dean of programs and curriculum

Students can connect business concepts to situations at work while learning from classmates’ perspectives. Students receive academic, student and career support.

Consider this path if: You want to keep working while developing business skills through virtual and in-person learning.
