Gina Dokko Appointed Michael and Renée Child Professor in Business
Five-year appointment recognizes Dokko’s excellence in research, teaching and service
Professor Gina Dokko has been appointed the Michael and Renée Child Professor in Business at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management, effective July 1, 2026. Her five-year appointment extends through June 30, 2031.
The endowed professorship recognizes an accomplished senior faculty member whose original research, influential publications and classroom teaching contribute to the academic distinction of the School. It also provides support for the holder’s teaching, research, outreach and service.
Dokko’s research examines careers and job mobility, including how people’s professional histories shape learning, innovation, performance and social capital for individuals and their employers. Her work has appeared in leading academic journals, including Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Studies and Research Policy.
As the Michael and Renée Child Professor in Business, Dokko will teach in the Undergraduate Business Major, pursue scholarly activities and provide leadership within the Graduate School of Management. She will also help strengthen the academic and intellectual life of UC Davis and contribute to leadership programming for undergraduate business students.
Before entering academia, Dokko worked in strategy and marketing at American Express and 3M. She earned her Ph.D. in management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, an M.S. in industrial administration from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Before joining UC Davis, she served on the faculty of New York University’s Stern School of Business.
The Michael and Renée Child Professorship in Business was established to advance excellence in teaching, research and service at the Graduate School of Management while supporting the School’s Undergraduate Business Major.
