Mission, Purpose & Objectives
Mission
The Graduate School of Management Student Association Sacramento (GSMSA Sacramento) aims to improve the experience of students in the UC Davis Sacramento MBA program in order to prepare exemplary business leaders who make an impact in the global marketplace.
Purpose
The purpose of the GSMSA Sacramento is to serve as a liaison between the Sacramento MBA students and the administration of the UC Davis Graduate School of Management. Specifically, members of the GSMSA Sacramento are student advocates, communicating the viewpoints and suggestions of their classmates to the Dean and GSM Administration.
Objectives
The objective of the GSMSA Sacramento is to act as a strategic advisory board with the intentions of (a) improving the quality, value, and community of the Sacramento MBA Program, and (b) providing a platform for the discussion and action around student concerns.
Additionally, GSMSA Sacramento seeks to grow the value of the Graduate School of Management (GSM) in the U.S. and internationally by finding ways to increase the value proposition of the program for prospective students and employers. The GSMSA Sacramento hosts a variety of networking events, career workshops and social gatherings for students to connect with both alumni and other MBA students at the San Ramon & Davis campuses.

Eddie Ramirez
President
Eddie Ramirez is the president of the GSM Student Association for the 2025–2026 academic year. A proud member of the Sacramento Part-Time MBA program, Ramirez is committed to taking an active role in shaping the student experience at the Graduate School of Management. He values the unique strengths, challenges and aspirations of his diverse cohort and sees this leadership position as an opportunity to represent classmates, advocate for their needs and help build a stronger sense of community within and across cohorts.
Throughout his time at GSM, Ramirez has been inspired by the drive and professionalism of his peers. He believes that when students are given a voice and a platform to connect, collaborate and lead, the entire community benefits—both academically and personally. He is passionate about supporting initiatives that promote engagement, enhance career development opportunities and improve the overall student experience.
For Ramirez, serving as president is not just about holding a title—it’s about building bridges. Whether working with faculty and administration, planning inclusive events or championing student feedback, he is committed to ensuring every student feels seen, heard and valued.

Krystal Scruggs
Vice President of Internal Affairs
Krystal Scruggs is an MBA candidate at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management, Class of 2027, where she proudly serves as vice president of internal affairs for the GSMSA Sacramento Board and as a second-year student ambassador. In these leadership roles, Scruggs is committed to fostering inclusive engagement, strengthening internal operations and building a more connected and empowered student body.
She brings a diverse professional background with proven success across higher education, corporate and nonprofit sectors. She currently supports the UC Davis Department of Physics and Astronomy, managing academic personnel processes and leading pre-award contracts and grants administration. Her expertise in research administration, policy compliance and financial strategy reflects more than six years of academic operations experience.
As vice president of internal affairs, she is passionate about driving institutional effectiveness, cultivating a sense of belonging among MBA cohorts and helping students succeed both academically and professionally. Her leadership is grounded in data-driven decision-making, community impact and a deep dedication to equitable advancement in education and the workplace.

Amanda Meyer
Vice President of External Affairs
Amanda Meyer is a 2027 MBA Candidate at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management. She has over a decade of experience working in nonprofit leadership alongside community partners to administer education programs.
Meyer is currently employed as a senior executive analyst at UC Davis, where she teams with executive leadership to improve business operations through thoughtful project management. Now pursuing her MBA, she’s excited to grow alongside others who value collaboration, purpose-driven work and lifelong learning.

SiewYee Lee-Alix
Director of Finance
SiewYee Lee-Alix is the Program Director at the Sacramento Valley Small Business Development Center (SBDC), where she has been leading the development and implementation of the small business technical assistance programs within her service area. She is set to graduate in 2026 and is passionate about continuing her work in program development, with a focus on creating economic and social impact.

Kim Fox
Director of Events
Kim Fox is an MBA candidate graduating in 2026. With a background in civil engineering and more than a decade of experience as a construction project manager, Kim brings an analytical mindset, a problem-solving attitude and a proven ability to lead complex projects from concept to completion.
Known for her tenacity and collaborative spirit, Fox has built a career grounded in clear communication, creative thinking and a focus on delivering high-quality results. She thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys uniting people around shared goals—qualities she brings to her role as director of events on the GSM Student Advisory Board.
Outside of the professional sphere, Fox is an aspiring hobby farmer, tending to chickens, fruit trees and vibrant vegetable and flower gardens. A hiker and backpacker, she finds peace and inspiration in nature. She’s also the proud mom of two grown children who are successfully adulting—most days.
Fox is enthusiastic about building community at GSM and looks forward to planning inclusive, memorable events that foster meaningful connections among students, alumni and faculty.

Luis Ramirez
Director of Academic Affairs
Luis Ramirez works at UC Davis Medical Center as a supervisor, where he oversees operations in Acute Care Pharmacy. As a student in the Sacramento Part-Time MBA program, he is particularly interested in business analytics, data-driven decision-making and project management.
Beyond work and academics, Ramirez enjoys exploring the region’s vibrant food scene through local restaurants, coffee shops and farmers markets. He also has a passion for travel, photography and spontaneous day trips—always looking for his next great adventure.
Events and Activities
Monthly Career Development Presentations
GSMSA Sac, along with Jennifer Tucker (Sacramento career counselor), hosts monthly presentations to help students establish their “brand”. Presentation topics range from interview preparation, maximizing networking opportunities, and self-promotion.
